A Cycle of Events was held from March 30th to April 13th with Professor James R. Thompson, a professor at the University of Kansas and an expert at the American Association for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD), on the theme “Inclusive Support for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities”.

This renowned speaker toured our country with three seminars and five workshops and visits to organizations that support people with disabilities: while the seminars provided a theoretical basis with practical examples, the workshops had a strong practical and interactive component – although complementary, both the modalities could be attended separately.

All events were in English, with translation support available at the workshops whenever necessary. The number of places is limited, and registration was available in two ways: a) simple registration, free; or b) cost of ten euros, which includes a copy of the SIS-A Application manual and the respective protocol.

This cycle of events is part of the Capacitar para Incluir project, co-financed by the National Institute for Rehabilitation, and supported by the Fulbright Specialist program. In logistical terms, the events have the fundamental support of the Escola Superior de Educação de Coimbra, the Escola Superior de Educação do Porto, INR I.P, CERCIGUI, A2000, CERCIMIRA, ASSOL and the LIGA Foundation.
